  • China approves world’s first inhaled Covid-19 vaccine

China is the first country to approve the use of the inhaled covid-19 vaccine manufactured by CanSino Biologics company for emergency use as a booster vaccine.

While the world is adapting to live with the virus, China on the other hand continues its strict regulations, CNN believes that the reason for that is the low vaccination rate among the elderly in China.

University of Hong Kong virologist Jin Dong-Yan, explains to CNN that it is hard for now to determine the role and effectiveness of the vaccine. However, the vaccine’s inhaled form can be a good choice for a booster dose, especially when the number of people infected with the virus in China is relatively low.

CNN reveals that CanSino researchers reported in a study that the antibody levels were higher with the inhaled booster compared to the third injectable one. However, the study didn’t test the effectiveness of the vaccine in preventing infection or transmission of the virus to others.

The competition continues among the manufacturers in producing Covid vaccines, so, these non-injectable vaccines can be promising in preventing infection and spreading of the virus.
